The Group has been established since June 1995 and is working hard to regenerate the local community and get everyone involved to make it better for us all.
For advice on local issues and helping to
tackle the regeneration of the community, call in to the Park Road Resource
Centre – our regular home and for which we have responsibility.

We have regular meetings for:
- Crime, Environment and Safety (CENS)
- Village Social and Fundraising Group
- Local Newsletter (Woodhouse Warbler)
- Community Website (www.mansfieldwoodhouse.info)

CYBER CAFÉ/LEARN@PARK ROAD
The Youth Group was very strong at this time and they, through the main Group, were successful in gaining National Lottery money for a Cyber Café project. It was mainly the idea and design of MWYDG and there was much excitement around the project which provided internet, e-mail and information technology services and support to Mansfield Woodhouse.
The
Cyber Café has recently been refurbished and is now a new learning experience
called Learn@Park
Road. Some of the services that
the Cyber Café offered can now be found by using our other computer room.
As
time passed, it became difficult to continue running these as separate
projects, so it has been decided by the Group, with benefit to the Community
in mind, to encompass them into one. The original members of the Youth
Development Group have all now gone on to further education, so we look
forward, with the help of the local youth workers and the Family of Schools in
Mansfield Woodhouse to encourage new projects to benefit young people.
The Group produces its own newsletter, the “Woodhouse Warbler”, which is the best way of informing the community of resources and services available to them at the Centre and our other work in the rest of the village.
The educational opportunities at Park Road Resource Centre are varied and good. With a Learning Centre, allowing more flexibility for those people who need to fit study around other commitments.
The
Resource Centre is home to an Open Access facility that enables local people
access to computers and volunteer support on computer skills.
A
Crime and Safety, Environment, Social and Website/IT sub-groups continue to
meet to discuss and resolve issues in and around Mansfield Woodhouse.
LOOKING FORWARD
In
any Community Project the workload is enormous, but with dedicated Volunteers
and staff the rewards are worth it.
We hope the Resource Centre and the work that it has done and hopes to do to benefit the community in the future, will be successful. Local residents taking advantage of the opportunities offered to them will secure the future of the project.
